About Réka
Hi! I’m Réka, a Hungarian from Slovakia and currently studying Commerce International at UCD.
I grew up speaking Hungarian and have always had languages around me. Besides Hungarian and English, I speak Slovak and German and am currently studying Chinese, so I’ve spent plenty of time on the other side of language learning too.
Hungarian culture has always been a big part of my life. I did Hungarian folk dancing for 13 years and I’ve been singing since I was little. I also play the piano, love writing stories and spend a lot of my free time hiking and climbing.
I know that starting to speak a new language can feel uncomfortable at first, especially when you’re worried about making mistakes. But making those mistakes is simply part of actually learning to use a language.
I’m very open and easy to talk to, and I genuinely enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds. Whatever your reason for learning Hungarian is, I’d love to hear about it and help you get where you want to be with the language.

I’ve been tutoring for around 4 years, mainly working with language learners, and I also have a TEFL qualification.
One of the biggest things tutoring has taught me is that everyone learns differently. Something that makes perfect sense to one person might not click at all for someone else, so I always try to understand how each of my students thinks and learns and adapt the lessons around that. Because there isn’t one method that works for everyone.
With Hungarian, we can focus on whatever is most useful for you, whether that’s speaking and everyday conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, or a combination of everything. I want you to actually understand what we’re doing rather than just memorise things for the sake of it.
Lessons are 60 minutes and open to all ages and levels. The first 30-minute lesson is free to discuss your goals, and my standard rate is €20 per hour, although I’m happy to discuss this depending on the type of lessons you need.

Me and Réka have both studied Mandarin Chinese for over a year now, a notoriously difficult language. Through it all she's been very dedicated, attentive and hard-working. She has taught me a bit of Hungarian, and through it she's been very willing to answer even the most obscure questions, and has laid everything out in a clear, easy to understand manner, meaning I could grasp rather complicated concepts with ease. Would highly recommend to anyone as a teacher.
Réka has been helping me with Hungarian and Maths for a while now and I’ve really enjoyed our lessons. She explains things clearly and always makes sure I understand before moving on. I like that the lessons don’t feel too formal and I feel comfortable asking questions or making mistakes. She’s patient, friendly and really supportive, and I’d definitely recommend her.
