Perfect! I’ve had about 4 lessons with Jesse so far, and wow he is stellar. I come from a slightly musical background, and he was able to meet me exactly where I was. We mostly focused on lyrics/poetry (as that was by far my weak points) and by week two I had something I was genuinely proud of. It’s clear he’s taught the subject many many times before in that he’s extremely quick to explaining things. Moreover, he offered his own custom separate educational modules which I found pretty informative.

I love how logical and simple Jesse’s explanations are (I wish my Music Theory teachers back in the day had been such clear communicators!). As I sit in the background of my son’s lessons, I relearn things I’d long since forgotten, and they actually make sense this time!

I get hard blockages in my brain with music theory, but Jesse was able to explain most of the topics that I was confused about in a way that I could understand them in a practical sense. Perfect! Jesse gave me a great songwriting lesson. He helped guide me by challenging me on what themes I wanted to convey, giving me some ideas for how I could change the shape of my music to help me get there, and zeroing in line by line on areas I can work on or improve. He's an attentive teacher with a lot of experience and knowledge that he brings to the table. Definitely recommended!

Perfect! Jesse has been amazing to work with and I am so excited to continue our lessons. Even in our first 30 minute intro meeting - I gained tremendous value and insight from Jesse. Not only can he teach songwriting that has a true story telling nature, but he is also coaching me on singing and guitar - between our first intro call and first true lesson, I had already written a full song with guitar chords I had never used (suggested by Jesse). He has provided me with a new lens on how I am viewing songwriting. He was not overwhelmed by the fact that I am an adult beginner singing, song writer, and guitarist seeking lessons in all areas. He knows it all and knows all genre's. He was excited about this - and is organized in his approach (laid out that our next lesson would be dedicated to singing, the next to songwriting etc. etc.) so we don't veer off track and to remain on the same page. He checks in and has made it clear that if I want to shift gears, he will tailor our lessons to my desires accordingly. Additionally, Jesse took the time to listen to 4 different song recordings I sent to him before our first lesson, and he has offered to review lyrics, other recordings, etc. in between lessons. He has sent me materials in a shared document that I can refer to between lessons.
Jesse provides feedback gracefully - in a concise and thoughtful way - his feedback on one page of lyrics I read in a lesson has instilled so many new idea's for me.
From a character standpoint, Jesse is extremely approachable and easy to talk with. I had no fear singing in front of him and I had no fear reading personal lyrics to him (that normally I would have been self conscious about). He is special in this way and he has an energy about him that is positive and high balanced with an even keeled calm demeanor. He's personable and curious - and his approach has sparked a surge of motivation for me outside of out lessons.
Could not recommend Jesse more and I feel lucky to have found him!
