About Tom
I am an Economics Graduate from a top Russell Group University, currently studying as a Trainee Accountant with a member of the Big 4, with a varied background in teaching.
Since 2014 I have been an accredited coach with the LTA and EA (tennis and athletics) which has helped me develop a passion and the skills to help young people succeed.
In terms of academics, I have tutored a family friend in mathematics, taking him from a C to an A at GCSE.
I have taken up similar roles in the past at school, helping those who struggle achieve higher grades.
With regard to my specialist area of economics, as suggested by my teacher, I operate an open arms policy to my former school, with current students having the opportunity to email/message me with any questions, and also going back into class to do presentations on how to get an A*/A. I enjoy this as a form of giving back to the top school which helped me so much to achieve, and seeing younger students follow the same path.

My teaching method very much depends on the specific needs of the student/s at hand. I am more than happy to go through every single topic at whatever pace is required or on the other hand base lessons on certain areas in which my student/s feel they have a weakness.
A key strength of mine is patience and perseverance-hours spent out on court with kids who could barely hold a tennis racket helped develop this!
An idea which I feel is very important and helped myself in the past and which I like to share with my students is the aim to not have any weaknesses, and to attempt to change current weaknesses to strengths. I find this particularly vital as the exams can throw any topic or question your way.

Tom has superb understanding of his subjects particularly maths and economics. This coupled with his innate ability to relate to his pupils makes him an excellent tutor. His help will really improve both understanding and confidence! I would definitely recommend him.
Tom helped me so much with my studies. I was really struggling with supply, demand and equilibrium, however, Toms logical explanations and methods made answer structures clear and accessible. I’ve never been confident with the maths side of economics but because of Toms support, I’ve seen a massive improvement in myself. Thank you !!
