• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I am a spoken Bengali teacher. My interest in this field developed somewhat unexpectedly, but my training and career have helped establish it. I have conducted research on the Bengali language and cultural heritage, and I find great satisfaction in helping students learn the language effectively.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My motivation for choosing to teach stems from a fellow educator who served as my mentor. Their leadership, dedication, and pedagogical excellence inspired me to pursue a career in education. I wanted to make a positive impact on students' lives, just as my mentor did for me.

• How does your work help society?

  My work as a Bengali teacher contributes to society by preserving and promoting the Bengali language and culture. It helps individuals connect with their roots, fosters cultural understanding and enhances communication skills. In a globalized world, promoting linguistic and cultural diversity is crucial.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  If I were to think of a role model for my work, it would be Rabindranath Tagore. His contributions to Bengali literature and his efforts in education, including the establishment of Shantiniketan, are inspirational. He emphasized the importance of language and culture in education, which aligns with my goals as a teacher.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside of teaching, I enjoy various hobbies. I have a passion for Bengali literature and often indulge in reading and writing. I also love Photography and exploring different cuisines. Traveling to immerse myself in various cultures and languages is another interest that I cherish.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  An anecdote from my teaching career involves a student who struggled with learning Bengali due to a language barrier. Through patience, customized teaching methods, and a strong rapport, I watched this student make remarkable progress over time. Witnessing their transformation and growing confidence was a rewarding experience, highlighting the importance of individualized teaching and dedication in education.
