About Ivana
For me, teaching Spanish is like opening a door to a world as diverse as the countries where it's spoken. Establishing a connection between my culture (that of a Venezuelan immigrant in Chile) and that of the students not only brings me joy, but also a wealth of learning about our planet. In addition to Spanish, I'm interested in literature, art, playing and listening to music, food, nature, biology, astronomy, medicine, psychology, education, hiking, camping, and general culture. Sharing these topics with the students' interests is always enriching. May Spanish be that bridge!

Hello! Nice to meet you! Let me tell you about myself.
I have a degree in Literature from the Andrés Bello Catholic University (Caracas, Venezuela). I also have a Master's degree in Literature from the University of Chile. I have a special interest in Latin American culture from a multidisciplinary perspective and in poetry, which I have written and published in numerous international journals.
I have more than five years of experience in in-person and online classes, both private and group. I use textbooks, interactive materials, and audiovisuals. Furthermore, I have the skills to reinforce my students' reading comprehension and writing skills thanks to my training in literature and linguistics. I offer flexible scheduling and adapt to the needs, tastes, and expectations of each student.
As a Venezuelan resident in Chile for eight years, I am well-versed in the idioms of both my home country and Chilean ones. However, I am constantly learning idioms from other Latin American countries. I have taught Spanish to people of many different nationalities, whose goals ranged from travel, work, studies... or even love! In addition to tourists, students, and professionals, I have taught immigrants and refugees from the Middle East in Chile. In connection with that experience, in 2024 I completed a specialist course in teaching Spanish and language integration for migrants, which was certified by ELE International.
As a second language, I am familiar with American English, as I am married to an American and have an excellent relationship with his English-speaking family. I also converse with several friends from that country, England, Canada, India...
In 2022, I obtained a certification as a SIELE exam preparer. I am also a certified examiner by the Instituto Cervantes for the Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) for levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.

Details
For in-person classes, I live in a rural area, so I have to take public transportation to get to the city on time. In addition to home teaching, I'm open to be outdoors, in museums, markets, and cafes (I can treat you to drinks if desired). I also issue fee receipts for both in-person and online classes for tax purposes.
