About Rebekah

As a dedicated and experienced elementary educator, I bring both professionalism and passion to every tutoring session. I have a strong background in teaching reading and writing, with a deep understanding of academic standards and how to help students meet—and exceed—them. My lessons are thoughtfully planned, well-structured, and tailored to each student’s unique needs, ensuring steady progress and measurable growth.

I create a supportive and respectful learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and building confidence in their abilities. Clear communication with both students and families is a priority, and I consistently provide feedback and updates on progress.

You can expect reliable, organized, and engaging instruction every session. I am committed to helping students succeed not only academically, but also in developing the confidence and skills they need to become independent, lifelong learners.

My approach to tutoring is centered on building confidence, engagement, and strong foundational skills while meeting each student exactly where they are. I use a student-centered, standards-based approach that blends direct instruction, guided practice, and meaningful discussion. I believe students learn best when they are actively involved, so I incorporate questioning strategies, real-world connections, and opportunities for students to explain their thinking.

In my lessons, I use a mix of techniques such as:

Modeling skills step-by-step (“I do, We do, You do”)
Close reading and text evidence strategies
Graphic organizers and visual supports
Interactive activities (sorting, multi-select questioning, writing tasks)
Immediate feedback and goal setting

A typical lesson begins with a quick warm-up or review to activate prior knowledge. Then I introduce the skill or concept with clear modeling and examples. Next, we work through guided practice together, followed by independent practice where students apply what they’ve learned. I end each session with a short reflection or check for understanding to track progress and plan next steps.

What sets me apart is my experience as an elementary educator and my ability to break down complex skills into manageable, student-friendly steps. I also design lessons aligned to academic standards, ensuring students are not only improving but also preparing for assessments. I focus heavily on building student confidence, especially for learners who may feel discouraged or behind.

My lessons are ideal for elementary students (grades 3–6), particularly those needing support in reading comprehension, writing, and test preparation. I work well with students who need targeted skill-building, enrichment, or structured support to meet grade-level expectations.
