About Mairi
I am a recent graduate looking to help out high school students, especially those who have had their usual education disrupted due to Covid-19. I have enjoyed Maths and related subjects from a young age, which is one of the main reasons for pursing a degree in engineering. I have previous experience tutoring various levels of maths.

I appreciate maths isn't for everyone, with many peers being unable to understand why I enjoyed ithe subject throughout school! However, I believe with the right encouragement and perseverance, this core subject can greatly benefit a child's problem solving and logical thinking, essential life skills for any career.
Personally, worked examples of problems and questions have greatly benefitted my own learning along with plenty of practice. I believe working through a worked example together at first is key to ensure the child has a full understanding before proceeding with further questions independently. As well as being open to all questions, I will ask the student regular questions to gauge their understanding and development, as well as listen to how they prefer to study/ retain information in order to adapt future sessions.
