About Yordan
- I was a Personal Maths Tutor giving One-to-One sessions to other University Engineering students, during my studies.
- I was a Peer Assisted Learning Leader, at my University, giving Maths sessions to a group of 20 students each week.
- I`ve also worked with a group of 3rd and 4th grade students, preparing them for mathematical competitions.

My interest in the subject has always been fuelled by the practical application and beauty of mathematics. One technique that I have developed has helped me tremendously improve my knowledge of mathematics. The technique involves going back to the core of the subject, answering the question “Why?” rather than “How?” and explaining the material using real-life examples in order to grasp the practicality and application of the concept before digging into more sophisticated theorems. I`ve developed this technique during my maths studies as I was never good at memorising.
I truly believe that the current educational system struggles to get children interested in the subject as it focuses only on presenting the theoretical side and lacks practicality. One example is the fact that many people know what calculus is, they know how to calculate it but sadly very few know why we need it or how it can be used it in a real-life scenario. Thus, the subject is overlooked by students during their studies.
Presenting the main concept and practicality of an idea instead of memorizing a routine of calculations allows the student not only to learn quicker but to create and derive his own complex theories. It also shortens the list of fomrulas to memorise as most of them are a logical progression of several main concepts.
