About Devon
I have been teaching and coaching around mathematics education for the last six years. I have taught approximately 300 students and have worked with about 150 teachers. My students have grown an average of 4 points on their ACT math section through this method. On average, most of my students have grown their grade level mastery by one level on the Alabama and Mississippi state assessments.

I was a 2012 Teach for America Corps Member and taught secondary mathematics courses including AP Statistics, Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and ACT prep. I have also taught courses in debate and I currently run a non-profit that provides after school and summer opportunities to learn computer science for students in Mississippi.
I am a big believer in constructivist approaches to learning. I ensure that all of my students have a deep understanding of WHY a mathematical concept works-- not just the steps.
Additionally, I have done instructional coaching for the last three years as well as curriculum design for math and computer science. Currently, I am studying for a PhD in Political Science at the University of Utah. Because of my expertise in this field, I would be able to tutor in areas of social sciences as well.
