About Melissa
I was a tutor and senior tutor with VCU's Campus Learning Center for four years before I graduated; prior to that, I tutored privately during high school for lower-level math. I earned the IB diploma with high grades in math subjects, and scored very well in Statistics. I've helped more than 100 students maintain and improve their grades, whether that's keeping an A or B or pulling Cs and Bs up toward As.

I see my job as helping students help themselves. I tailor my teaching methods to individual student needs. I prefer to take a Socratic approach by asking questions to determine where the student needs help and what they want to work on. A typical session might involve briefly determining what to work on or checking in from previous sessions before reviewing new or recent lesson material or homework problems.
