About Andy

Hi, I'm Andy! I'm a Health Sciences student at McMaster University with a passion for helping students achieve their academic and career goals.

Having graduated high school with a 95% average and maintained a strong university GPA, I understand the dedication and preparation required to succeed academically. I've also experienced competitive university admissions firsthand, receiving offers to study Health Sciences at McMaster University and Dentistry at Griffith University in Australia.

Throughout my academic journey, I've gained experience with personal statements, supplementary applications, interviews, and scholarship essays. I've learned that successful applications aren't simply about having the highest grades or the most extracurricular activities, but about communicating your experiences, values, and motivations authentically.

Beyond academics, I've been involved in scientific research, student leadership, community volunteering, and teaching piano to younger students. These experiences have strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to adapt my teaching approach to different learning styles.

As a tutor, I aim to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring their interests, and building confidence. Whether you're applying to university for the first time or pursuing a competitive professional program, I'll do my best to provide thoughtful, personalized guidance based on my own experiences.

I look forward to helping you take the next step toward your academic goals!

English

I'm a Health Sciences student at McMaster University, and I've successfully navigated competitive university admissions in both Canada and Australia, including receiving an offer to study Dentistry at Griffith University.

I understand how stressful university applications can be, especially when applying to competitive programs. My goal is to make the process clearer, more manageable, and personalized to each student's strengths and goals.

My Teaching Approach:

I believe every student has a unique story worth telling. Rather than providing generic application advice, I work one-on-one with students to identify their strengths, experiences, and interests and help them communicate these effectively. My approach is collaborative, encouraging, and focused on helping students develop confidence throughout the application process.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:

Initial assessment: Discuss your academic background, extracurricular activities, target universities, and application goals.

Application planning: Develop a personalized strategy, including program selection, timelines, and application requirements.

Writing support: Brainstorm ideas, structure personal statements and supplementary essays, and provide constructive feedback while preserving your authentic voice.

Interview preparation: Practice common interview questions, situational scenarios, and communication techniques through mock interviews.

Feedback and improvement: Identify areas for improvement and create actionable steps to strengthen your application.

What Sets Me Apart:

Having recently gone through the admissions process myself, I understand the challenges students face. My experience includes applying to competitive Canadian university programs and international dental schools, preparing supplementary applications, and completing a successful dental school interview. I can offer firsthand insights while helping students avoid common mistakes.

Who My Lessons Are For:

My lessons are designed for high school students in Grades 10–12 and university students preparing for undergraduate or professional school admissions. I particularly welcome students interested in Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Dentistry, and other competitive university programs in Canada or Australia.

Whether you're just beginning to explore universities or preparing for an upcoming interview, I'm here to help you approach the admissions process with confidence!
