About Sophia
Hi! I am an online tutor based in London for KS3, GCSE students, specialising in Maths, Chemistry and Biology. My strong academic background though excelling in my GCSEs and A levels and my enthusiastic nature with children ensures I am extremely approachable and friendly and my students feel comfortable to express their needs and concerns. This allows me to support them in their studies and ensure they excel and improve drastically!
I started teaching in my first year at university and have been doing so ever since (I love it!). I now have 3+ years of one-to-one tutoring experience and all of my students have improved at least two grades up from what they were working on before reaching out for tutoring.
As a friendly and approachable tutor, I believe that a positive and supportive learning environment is key to student success. I always strive to build strong, trusting relationships with my students, making them feel comfortable and confident in asking questions and expressing their concerns.

I provide a 1-to-1 teaching approach catered to the individuals needs. I listen and make note of the skills, topics and areas the student is least confident in and work together to build confidence and hone in on those skills in order to excel. I ensure my students are not only supported throughout my teaching period, but for the rest of their academic career as I will teach them learning and revision techniques which will be integral to their learning for the rest of their future. Typical length of a lesson is an hour.
Each lesson I will look through any homework, notes and questions in which they may have from school and ensure they understand what is being taught. I will them take an interactive approach to teach them on something they require to improve. This can be interactive quizzes, practice questions we work through together or timed past paper questions.

Sophia has tutored me for quite a while - i’ve never had a tutor so patient and informative in the time she spent with me. She manages to explain such difficult topics in such an easily digestible format and has genuinely helped me so much with focusing. Sitting down and being able to properly take in information is usually a massive struggle for me especially since i have ADHD , but she’s managed to work alongside that and help in ways teachers usually don’t have the patience or care for. I really can’t recommend her enough and I wish her the best!!
