About Helena
Hi I'm Helena. I am currently studying on the Bar Professional Training Course and will be starting pupillage in 2019. I have a First Class History Degree from Newcastle University and a Commendation in the Graduate Diploma in Law. Whilst at university I acted as a peer mentor for first year History students. This role gave me the chance to offer advice and guidance on essay writing and independent studying skills to new students. All students learn in different ways and it is important to really listen and understand the best way to help that student, and adapt your style to each student. Working as a nature counsellor in a camp in America over the past three summers has given me the opportunity to teach children between the ages of 8-16 new skills and motivate them to overcome challenges and obstacles they face. There is nothing more rewarding than inspiring a child to achieve something that they did not think they were capable of, which I do by being patient, offering encouragement as well as being passionate about what I am teaching!
