About Rebecca
I am a student at Columbia College, and am a sophomore music student. I started piano at eight years old and I haven't stopped playing music since. I've done multiple musical theater performances and showcases, and have played piano, trumpet, and percussion in performances. I have also taught myself the ukulele and write my own music.

I approach teaching music the same way many would teach a language. I believe in starting with the basics, then branching off of each, adding supplemental knowledge that helps build connections in the brain. I also believe (at least in music) in letting students study what they enjoy. If a student wants to learn how to read and play pop music, I'm not going to force them to learn classical as well. It's not as fun to study something you don't like, and if you can learn one kind of music, most others will fall into place as well.
