Teaching method and techniques (what I use) Approach: Communicative and task-based; focus on speaking and listening first, with reading/writing balanced. Skills focus: listening comprehension, speaking fluency, pronunciation (phonetics and intonation), reading short texts, writing basic sentences. Dialect vs. Standard: clarify goals; offer Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) plus optional dialect (e.g., Moroccan, Levantine, Egyptian) depending on your needs. Techniques: Spaced repetition and retrieval practice (flashcards, SRS) Total Physical Response (TPR) for basics Dialogues and role-plays for real-life tasks Audio/visual aids, authentic materials (menus, ads, news clips) Error-friendly feedback and deliberate practice targeting specific phonemes and patterns Scaffolded practice: chunks, patterns, then free production Formative checks: quick polls, short quizzes, “exit tickets” Cultural context: idioms, customs, etiquette in Arabic-speaking contexts Typical lesson plan (45–60 minutes) Warm-up (5–7 min): quick conversational prompt or mini-dialogue; review previous target phrase Goal and quick diagnostic (2–3 min): state today’s objective; check-in on prior homework Input phase (8–12 min): short listening/reading aloud a graded text or dialogue; highlight new vocab/grammar Guided practice (12–15 min): controlled activities (spot the pattern, fill-in-the-blanks, matching) using targets Production phase (10–15 min): role-play, simulations, or speaking tasks using the target language Feedback and correction (5 min): correct key errors, provide model answers, pronunciation tips Wrap and homework (2–3 min): assign tasks (flashcards, a short writing/speaking task, a listening clip) What sets me apart as a tutor Customized plans: goals, level, dialect preference, and real-life needs (travel, work, academic) drive every lesson. I focus on practical fluency: heavy emphasis on speaking and listening from day one, with clear pronunciation coaching. Flexible pacing: adjusts to learner’s rhythm; speeds up or slows down as needed. Cultural competence: integrates-social phrases, etiquette, and context to build usable language skills. Clear progress tracking: measurable milestones, regular checks, and transparent feedback. Resource diversity: mix of dialogues, media, apps, and authentic materials; optional dialect exposure. Who the lessons are for Levels: A1 to B2 (beginner to upper intermediate); I can tailor for higher as needed.
