About Gabriela
Olá! I’m a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker with a European Portuguese family background, which means I grew up learning and using both Brazilian and European Portuguese. I graduated from the University of Florida (UF) and have over two years of experience tutoring Portuguese throughout college. During this time, I’ve worked with students from different linguistic backgrounds, especially learners whose first language is not a Latin-based language. This experience has helped me develop a teaching style that focuses on clear pronunciation, listening skills, and building real speaking confidence from the start. I believe strong language learning comes from personalized guidance and a supportive environment. I take the time to understand each student’s level and goals, then adapt my lessons to highlight strengths and improve weaker areas. My goal is to help students feel comfortable and confident using Portuguese in real-life situations, whether for travel, work, or personal growth.

Lessons are held online via Google Meet and are personalized to your level and goals. I offer one-on-one tutoring, with optional small-group lessons when requested.
Each lesson focuses on practical communication, combining pronunciation, listening, speaking, and grammar in a clear and structured way. I always introduce new material first, then reinforce it through guided speaking and targeted practice.
To keep lessons engaging and realistic, I also use real-world materials such as:
- Short news articles and headlines
- Music and song lyric breakdowns
- Everyday expressions (slang) used by native speakers
Lessons typically include:
- Pronunciation and listening exercises
- Vocabulary and grammar in real context
- Speaking practice using real-life situations
- Review and feedback to track progress
As we move forward, lessons become more conversation-focused to build confidence and fluency. Optional independent practice can be provided for students who want extra support between sessions.

Perfect! Gabriela has been a fantastic tutor. She creates an open environment where language learners can feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. Greatest teacher ever! I’ve taken Portuguese classes with this tutor, and the improvement I’ve seen has been very noticeable. The lessons are rly well structured, engaging, and tailored to my level. i feel like this makes it both efficient for me to learn and gabby is a sweet heart to deal with.
