About Hannah
I'm a native English speaker who has spent most of my life living between the United States and Korea. I was born in the US, moved to Korea at age one, and grew up there until I was 16 — so Korean is truly my first language in every practical sense. I then moved to New York for college and lived there through my mid-twenties, before returning to Korea for nearly a decade as a working adult. I'm now back in the US, based in Los Angeles.
This back-and-forth between two countries and two cultures means I'm not just fluent in both languages — I understand how each language thinks. I know what's genuinely difficult for English speakers learning Korean, and I can explain grammar, pronunciation, and cultural context in a way that actually makes sense to a Western learner.
I'm patient, flexible, and genuinely enjoy helping people connect with the Korean language — whether that's for travel, relationships, work, or just a love of Korean culture. I believe language learning should feel natural and rewarding, and I bring that energy to every lesson.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual goals — whether you're a complete beginner learning Hangul for the first time, preparing for TOPIK, studying Korean for travel or K-culture, or need conversational practice for everyday life.
Having grown up in Korea from age 1 to 16, then lived in New York through my college years, and spent another decade back in Korea as an adult, I bring a unique perspective that goes beyond textbook Korean. I understand both the formal language and the natural, everyday way Koreans actually speak — including slang, nuance, and cultural context that most tutors can't offer.
In a typical lesson, we'll focus on what matters most to you: speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar, pronunciation, or all of the above. I adapt my teaching style to your pace and learning preferences, and I'm fully comfortable teaching in English, Korean, or switching between both — whatever helps you learn best.
Whether you're just starting out or looking to reach fluency, I'm here to make Korean feel approachable, practical, and even fun!

Perfect! Hannah is absolutely amazing! She has been tutoring my two daughters (ages 12 and 15) in Korean for about a month now and they have already learned so much.
