About Sofía
Hi there! I'm Sofia, a Spanish PhD student in History at the University of Oxford. I hold a first class undergraduate degree in History, and a Master's degree with distinction in Women's, Gender and Sexuality studies also from the University of Oxford. I have always had a strong passion for learning and helping others become more confident in their abilities. Outside of the academic world, I love to run, go on countryside walks, cook, read and play for a grassroots football team.

I have a wealth of experience tutoring 13-17 year old students in History, Spanish and English language and Literature, particularly at GCSE and A-Level. I also have some experience teaching English as a Second Language and the IB Middle Years Programme curriculum for English Literature. I have consistently enabled a noticeable grade improvement by students - from grades 4/5 to 8/9 at GCSE and from 3 to 6/7 at IB's Middle Years Programme. During my time as a Junior faculty member for the John Locke Institute, I designed my own two-week long lecture and seminar series on the History of Ideas and Gender, and mentored students for their UCAS applications, specifically Oxbridge ones. As Camp Counsellor and Programme Director at Diverbo's 'Pueblo Inglés' in Spain, I was responsible for the welfare, education (ESL) and entertainment of 60 children (15 of whom were visually impaired) , aged 6-14, during their stay at the company's language summer camp. My goal is not only to improve students' grades, but to do so by helping them ignite passion for the subjects they study. Online tutoring is preferred but could hold some in-person sessions.
