About Christen
I'm a 200hr YTT-certified instructor and I currently teach a weekly class in East London (I have a corporate job during the week).
My teacher training was science-based: my teachers are also physios and neuroscience experts.
I work with complete beginners who've never been on a mat, and with experienced practitioners who want more depth and understanding in their practice.
The common thread is curiosity: students who want to understand what they're doing and why, and know that it's building something lasting in both body and brain.

Most yoga classes tell you what to do. Mine can also tell you why.
I teach yoga with a neuroscience approach, which means every sequence, every breath cue, and every transition is chosen with intention.
You'll understand how movement regulates your nervous system, why certain postures shift your mental state, and what your breath is actually doing physiologically when you hold a pose. When you understand what's happening in your body, the practice stops feeling like an exercise class and starts feeling like a toolkit.
The neuroscience approach matters beyond the physical. Research increasingly shows that mindful, intentional movement has measurable effects on brain health, from reducing cortisol and inflammation, to supporting neuroplasticity and cognitive function over time. This is yoga designed not just to make your body feel better today, but to support your mental clarity, emotional resilience, and long-term brain health for years to come.
No two sessions are the same. Before we begin, I take time to understand where you are physically and mentally, what kind of day you've had, and adapt accordingly. If you're stressed and depleted and don't want to hear the neuroscience stuff, we work with that. If you're energised and want a challenge, we work with that too. The session is genuinely yours.
Sessions are available in-person across London (I come to you or you come to Stepney Green) or online via video call, making it easy to build a consistent practice around your schedule.
