About Jos

Hi, I'm Jos! I'm a fourth-year medical student at Newcastle University with a passion for teaching and helping students achieve their academic goals.

I offer tutoring in GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science, particularly Maths, Biology and Chemistry. Having studied these subjects myself and now applying much of that knowledge throughout my medical degree, I understand how challenging certain topics can seem and how much difference the right explanation can make.

Alongside my studies, I've gained experience tutoring students of different ages, abilities and exam boards, helping them build confidence, strengthen their understanding and prepare for exams. I particularly enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into simple, manageable steps and seeing students progress towards grades they might not have thought were possible.

Outside of academics, I've spent over six years coaching football to children aged 4–16. This has taught me the importance of patience, encouragement and adapting my communication style to suit different personalities and abilities.

I know first-hand how stressful GCSEs and A-Levels can be, and I believe that having someone approachable, supportive and encouraging can make a huge difference. My aim is to make students feel comfortable asking questions, build their confidence and help them reach their full potential.

I'm friendly, patient and enthusiastic, and I genuinely enjoy helping others succeed. Whether you're struggling with a particular subject or aiming for top grades, I'd love to help you get there!

My approach to tutoring is centred around making learning enjoyable, building confidence and helping every student achieve their full potential. As a fourth-year medical student at Newcastle University, I understand how important it is to have complex topics explained in a clear, simple and engaging way.

I tailor every lesson to the individual student, taking into account their current ability, areas of difficulty, learning style and academic goals. Whether you're aiming to secure a pass, improve your grades or achieve the highest marks, I adapt my teaching to suit your needs.

My lessons are interactive and structured, combining clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, quizzes and exam-style questions to reinforce understanding. I place a particular emphasis on exam technique, helping students understand not just the content, but how to apply their knowledge effectively to gain marks in exams.

Having experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science students across different abilities and exam boards, I understand that everyone learns at a different pace. I encourage students to ask questions, make mistakes and develop the confidence to tackle challenging problems independently.

Alongside tutoring, I have over six years of experience coaching football to children aged 4–16, which has helped me develop strong communication skills, patience and the ability to make learning engaging for young people.

Above all, I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and genuinely enjoy making progress.
