About Maya
With over 11 years of experience, I am a passionate guitar tutor dedicated to helping students achieve their musical goals. I hold a degree in music, with a focus on performance and composition. My teaching approach emphasizes musical expression, critical listening, and fostering individual creativity. I believe that well-rounded musicianship comes from mastering chord theory, technique, improvisation, and ear training. Lessons are designed to balance technical skill with artistic freedom, allowing students to explore their unique musical voice. I have successfully guided students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, as well as Professional and Expert musicians. Through personalized instruction, I help each student build confidence, refine technique, and develop a deeper understanding of music. My teaching approach focuses on making guitar learning engaging, structured, and tailored to each student. I guide students from the basics to advanced techniques, ensuring a strong foundation in both theory and practice. Lessons cover guitar styles including classical, jazz, electric, acoustic, and bass.
I emphasize ear training to help students recognize notes, chords, and rhythms by listening. Performance coaching is a key part, preparing students to play confidently in front of others. Music theory is integrated into lessons, making it easy to understand and apply while playing.
I personalize instruction using modern tools like DAWs, amp simulators, and metronome apps. This helps students practice effectively and explore their creativity. I also support students in exploring complex pieces, helping them excel in styles that challenge their skill.
With practical exercises, fun techniques, and step-by-step guidance, I make learning enjoyable and effective. I encourage exploration and self-expression while building technical skill.
