About James
I started teaching guitar in 2016 to underprivileged schoolchildren; since then, I've developed my teaching skills with an emphasis on getting the most out of a student's existing skills, with a focus on developing their potential. Everyone has certain abilities that can give them a leg up when they start guitar, but they often lack the confidence and knowledge to identify and use them. With more advanced students I try to push them to re-evaluate their habits, sharpen the definition of their goals, and consider new techniques. I'm currently studying Classical Piano and Electronic instrumentation at Concordia University in Montreal. And love how my students influence my work. I love classic rock, classical, Jazz, bossa nova and punk rock. Ever since I started teaching, I've continued to believe in the importance of making music available to all. Starting from any level, we will sharpen your musical passions and hone your musicianship.

Our first lesson consists of determining your skill level, and designing a plan to meet your goals. For the remainder, we get right down to playing. After that, typical lessons will include custom worksheets, chord charts, and sheet music for your use during practice at home. We’ll work on what’s challenging you, and build good habits and technique. Lessons can be conducted virtually, or in person. Equipment rentals available on request.
