About Sofia
Hi! I'm Sofia, a Portuguese and Spanish as Foreign Language teacher for the last 4 years I've been living and traveling around the world: Germany, Spain, Thailand, Australia, France, Brazil, Mexico and the USA. I've been teaching online for over 2 years and I'm used to different cultures and people. It is always a pleasure to be able to share a little of Portuguese culture and language. I have a degree in Languages, Literatures and Cultures - Portuguese/Spanish (via teaching) by FLUP - Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto with specialization in Theater Studies at the same institution. I am currently attending a Masters in Spanish Second Language/Foreign Language at the University of Minho.

Classes will be given on an informal basis, taking into account the level of learning and the purpose of study. In the first class, the dynamics to be adopted and the most appropriate methodology will be discussed and defined, according to the intended objectives: whether oral, written and/or comprehension. Practical examples of everyday/current situations and according to the student's personal tastes (through music, films, etc.) will always be valued.

Perfect! Apesar de algum receio dado o facto da Amila ter apenas 4 anos e com conhecimentos muito básicos de Português, as aulas com a Sofia foram excelentes e a Amila em duas semanas fez imensos progressos. Saudações para a Sofia que se soube adaptar à Amila e fazer com que ela demonstrasse interesse nas aulas, interesse esse, que continua agora que já voltamos ao estrangeiro. - Foi um enorme prazer dar aulas de português à Amila, filha do Leandro. Como é uma criança muito pequena, as estratégias de ensino foram desenhadas tendo em consideração os seus gostos e capacidades. I met Sofia by her post about Portuguese Lessons on a Portuguese Fb Group. It was interesting what she offered and I tried. Since then I was very happy! I felt at my ease right away, because she is very welcoming and empathetic, enthusiastic and positive person! I like that she loves her profession and so everything is fun, natural and spontaneous. Furthermore, since she loves what she does, she is very happy sharing her knowledge with you! I love our lessons because there is a guideline that we follow, but at the same time we learn and dive into portuguese language and culture in so many different ways! And I love this creativity when you are learning something! I highly reccomend Sofia, cause you can learn something that you are interested in, but you can also spend one hour having fun and is like spending some nice time with a friend!

Sofia is a lovely teacher. My wife and I decided to improve our Portuguese during lockdown and we have had regular zoom lessons with her every since. Our conversation skills have improved hugely under her tuition and Sofia explains the grammar we need really clearly. She is patient and kind - even though we are not natural linguists.
We did not know Sofia before we started our lessons. We originally found her details online and it was very lucky for us. Over the last two years she has become a friend as well as our teacher and I would not hesitate to recommend her.A Sofia é uma excelente profissional.
