About Sanghita
Sanghita Chakraborty is a distinguished Hindustani classical violinist of the Maihar Gharana. Born into a family steeped in musical tradition, she commenced her artistic training under the tutelage of her father, Shri Debasish Chakraborty, mastering classical vocal music before transitioning to the violin in 2011. Her instrumental talim began with Pandit Subal Biswas, himself a disciple of Padma Bhushan Pandit V. G. Jog, under whose guidance she spent eleven years refining her technique, developing a commanding bow arm, impeccable intonation, and a profound grasp of rhythmic intricacies. She is currently undertaking advanced violin studies under Pandit Indradeep Ghosh, further deepening her command of the Maihar repertoire and expanding her improvisational horizons.

My teaching style is rooted in patience, encouragement, and personalized attention. I understand that every student learns differently, and I tailor each class to suit your goals and musical interests.
I also bring in elements of theory, rhythm (tala), and listening exercises to help you not only play music but truly understand it. Classes are interactive, structured, and yet full of joy and discovery.
I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
