About Swar
Hi, I’m Swarn – a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer with over 10 years of dedicated training. I began learning this beautiful art form at the age of 7 and have completed the senior level of the Bharatanatyam Natya Shastra exam in India. My teaching approach is rooted in discipline, grace, and joy, with a strong focus on building technique, rhythm, and expressive storytelling. I offer a supportive and encouraging learning space, whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills. With a blend of tradition and creativity, I’m here to guide you on your Bharatanatyam journey with professionalism, patience, and passion.

With over a decade of experience learning Bharatanatyam since the age of 7 and having completed the senior level of the Natya Shastra exam in India, I now share my passion through fun, structured lessons for beginner to intermediate students.
My teaching style focuses on building strong foundations in posture, mudras (hand gestures), basic adavus (steps), expressions (abhinaya), and rhythm (tala). I make sure to blend discipline with creativity, so each session is engaging and easy to follow.
Teaching Methodology:
Step-by-step breakdown of movements
Repetitive practice to build muscle memory
Explanation of cultural context and stories behind each movement
Emphasis on both technique and expression
Encouraging feedback and corrections in a positive learning space
The first lesson is typically 40 to 45 minutes, covering an introduction to Bharatanatyam, basic warm-ups, and the first set of adavus. Lessons are mainly conducted online, but I am happy to consider offline classes if the location is nearby and accessible by public transport.
