About Giovanna
There are three qualities that I hold above all else: kindness, strength, and self-betterment. I apply these to all that I do. They are the reason that I continue to challenge myself, and grow as a student, a teacher and a person. These are qualities that I aim to instill in all my students, too.
My passion is English Literature, and I have always loved teaching. I now have a decade of experience in education as a private tutor, teaching assistant, classroom teacher, hospital teacher, literacy lead and GCSE English examiner for AQA. Throughout this time, I've developed a passion for leading students to success at KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level. I have supported students to secure their dream grades and helped the highest academic achievers to earn interviews and entry into Oxbridge. I also specialise in teaching EAL students and have a TEFL certification. I currently teach within a hospital school, planning bespoke lessons to enable students with complex health needs and SEND to engage with and enjoy learning. Whatever your requirements, I am confident I can provide exceptional lessons that will exceed your expectations. I take great pride in all the confidence and creativity I have helped cultivate in my students.
Since joining this site I have devoted over 200 hours to my students. I do my utmost to personalise every lesson, and ensure I target my tutee's barriers to learning while making the most of their strengths. I aim to build the confidence and ability of all my students, from children who struggle with basic grammar, to adults writing their first novels.
I have previously worked as an academic proofreader for Proofessor.com and specialised in helping those with English as their second language and dyslexic clients find their voices. While working with the Reader in Leicester and South London, I led a reading group for individuals with a variety of physical disabilities and mental illnesses.
My other passions include martial arts, music, cooking and writing.

Perfect! Simply Brilliant
Giovanna came to us highly recommended. It is hard to do justice to Giovanna's many skills as a tutor but I will try. She always arrived at sessions highly prepared and it was obvious she had spent considerable time planning the lessons. She was a mine of information on finding helpful recourses. Giovanna was a patient, engaged, relaxed tutor, and for our daughter I really can't imagine finding anyone better. We did try others. I think the thing that sticks out the most for me, was her enabling way of teaching, she is so positive and I believe her influence gave my daughter the confidence she needed to go for it. Giovanna teaches A level English Literature to my daughter who is home-educated, and in doing so has taken on the responsibility not of supplementing my daughter's college work, but instead of running the whole syllabus. Giovanna has proofread and cut down my University Law essays on a number of occasions. As a law student, writing is imperative to success in the degree. Demonstrative of her caring nature, she has patiently worked alongside me to edit and improve my writing, not stopping until the work had reached a very good standard.
