About Declan
I’m a guitar teacher with over twelve years of experience, holding a Diploma of Music with a Guitar Specialization. I’ve coached students preparing for live performances, recording sessions, auditions, and music school entry. My teaching style is both encouraging and focused, designed to help you reach your full potential. I believe that great guitar playing is about more than just technique — it’s about stage presence and connecting with your audience. That’s why I work closely with you to build confidence and performance skills alongside your musical abilities. I encourage creative freedom, helping you find your own unique sound while maintaining high standards of musical excellence. Whether you’re aiming to nail an audition or rock a live show, I provide practical tips and tailored exercises to prepare you. My lessons are structured but flexible, always focused on your goals. I’m here to support you every step of the way and celebrate your progress. Together, we’ll develop not just your skills, but your passion for music. My teaching approach is designed to help every student, whether you’re a teenage rebel or an aspiring recording artist, find your unique sound on the guitar. I focus on building strong basics like classical fingerpicking and staff reading to give you a solid foundation. From there, we explore advanced techniques like hybrid picking and tonal control to add expression and depth to your playing.
I believe in learning by doing, so my lessons include lots of hands-on practice and real music examples. We work on songs that excite you and techniques that challenge you in the right way. I tailor each lesson to your style and goals, helping you grow as a musician at your own pace.
Along the way, I teach you how to control your tone, so you can create the exact sound you want. Reading music is also an important part of my method because it opens doors to new styles and ideas. I support you fully, encouraging your creativity while guiding you to improve skills step by step.
With patience and practice, you’ll build confidence and play with feeling. My goal is to help you not just learn guitar, but to love playing it. Together, we’ll unlock your potential and make your music come alive.
