About Jocelyn
I have been passionate about piano for over fourteen years, both as a tutor and a performer. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Piano Studies, which has given me a strong foundation in technique, theory, and performance. My work as a composer allows me to explore creativity beyond playing, and I bring this experience into my teaching. I believe music is a lifelong journey, and I encourage my students to see learning as an ongoing adventure. I have taught a wide range of students, from complete beginners to advanced musicians preparing for exams or performances. Each student is unique, so I adapt my lessons to fit their individual needs and goals. Whether someone wants to play for fun or build a professional career, I provide support and guidance every step of the way. I focus on developing strong fundamentals while also nurturing creativity and expression. My goal is to make piano learning enjoyable and rewarding. I want my students to feel confident and inspired as they grow. Music is more than just notes on a page—it’s a way to connect, express, and grow throughout life. I am excited to share this journey with every student I teach.

My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation in piano skills while keeping lessons enjoyable and inspiring. I tailor each lesson to match the student’s level and goals, whether they are beginners or more advanced players. Along with playing, I teach essential music theory to help students understand how music works. This knowledge supports better playing and creativity. I prepare students for exams like ABRSM, Rockschool, and A-Levels, guiding them through technical skills and performance techniques required for success.
History of music is also part of my lessons. It helps students connect with the pieces they play and appreciate different styles. I encourage creative skills such as composition and improvisation, allowing students to express themselves through their music. For those interested in jazz and pop styles, I provide focused guidance to develop the skills needed to shine in these genres.
My method is flexible and student-centered. I listen carefully to what each student needs and adapt lessons accordingly. Practice is important, but I also make sure students enjoy their learning journey. With a balance of discipline and fun, my aim is to help students grow confident and passionate about piano playing.
