About Savannah
I believe that teaching is one of my greatest passions in life. I have gained a lot of experience in foreign language pedagogy as part of my course requirements during my Masters in Spanish program at the University of Virginia, and in my PhD coursework at the University of Miami. I have taught elementary and intermediate Spanish as well as intermediate Spanish literature courses as well as upper-level literature courses in Spanish. I enjoy incorporating my love of literature and culture into my lesson plans to help students improve their grammar and vocabulary skills through a variety of texts and activities that go beyond just worksheets.

I incorporate authentic texts (these include real-world materials from Spanish-speaking countries including news videos, cultural videos, articles, etc.) and fun/interactive activities into my lesson plans. I am passionate about teaching history, literature, and culture mixed with the grammar material. I have worked as a tutor for many years, and was first trained in the socratic method, which encourages a student-led approach to learning. I have experience teaching literature, grammar, history, and leading conversation groups.
