About Alaa
Hi, I'm Alaa! I hold a PhD in Neuroscience and a PharmD, and I'm passionate about helping students turn challenging neuroscience concepts into knowledge they can truly understand and apply.
My expertise spans neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, neurodegenerative diseases, memory and learning, addiction, NeuroHIV, aging, and translational neuroscience research. Rather than simply reviewing textbook material, I explain the why behind each concept, using clear, step-by-step reasoning and real-world clinical and research examples.
I work with undergraduate, graduate, pharmacy, nursing, medical, and health sciences students, helping them prepare for exams such as the USMLE, NAPLEX, and university coursework while building a strong conceptual foundation for future clinical and research success.
Every lesson is personalized to your learning style, academic goals, and pace. My objective is not just to help you pass your next exam, but to give you the confidence to think critically and understand neuroscience at a deeper level.
Your first lesson is free. Let's work together to make neuroscience engaging, manageable, and rewarding.

My Teaching Approach
As a PhD Neuroscientist and PharmD, I help students understand—not memorize—neuroscience. I specialize in neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, neurodegenerative diseases, NeuroHIV, addiction, memory & learning, aging, and research methods.
My lessons are personalized, structured, and focused on making complex concepts clear through clinical examples, research insights, and step-by-step explanations.
How I Teach
1. Concept-based learning to simplify complex neuroscience.
2. Visual diagrams & concept maps for brain pathways and drug mechanisms.
3. Clinical cases to connect theory with real-world practice.
4. Active recall & exam strategies for long-term retention.
5. Critical thinking instead of memorization.
What Sets Me Apart
I combine PhD-level neuroscience research with a PharmD background, allowing me to connect brain function, disease mechanisms, and neuropharmacology in a way that is practical, evidence-based, and easy to understand. My goal is to build your confidence and help you think like a scientist or clinician.
Who I Teach
1. Undergraduate and graduate neuroscience students
2. Medical, pharmacy, nursing, and pre-health students
3. Students preparing for USMLE, neuroscience, or neuropharmacology exams
4. Researchers needing help with experimental design, data interpretation, or scientific writing
Whether you're preparing for an exam or exploring neuroscience in greater depth, I'll help you build a strong foundation and achieve lasting understanding.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
As a sixth-year medical student, pharmacology has been one of the most challenging subjects for me since my second year, especially pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and understanding drug mechanisms.
I was fortunate to find Dr. Qrareya, a graduate of my university, and her teaching completely changed the way I learn pharmacology. She explains difficult concepts in a simple, well-structured way that helps you truly understand the material instead of just memorizing it.
I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with pharmacology—you'll finally start making sense of the subject!
Alaa was super helpful while prepping for my USMLE Step 1, worth every minute. Super high-yield stuff, straight to the point.
I have known Alaa for over 10 years. She was an animal researcher in our facility while working on her PhD. She is leading our training program for researchers and doing a great job. She is patient, organized, dependable, and hard working. She has helped many students become accomplished with technical skills.
Alaa is a skilled teacher and trainer. In these roles, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand how effectively she teaches and supports students and researchers.
What stands out most about Alaa’s teaching style is her ability to make complex material clear and approachable. She is patient, thoughtful, and always takes the time to ensure that students understand not just what they are doing, but why as well.
I recommend Alaa because she stays current in her field and adapts her teaching style to meet students at their level. Whether someone is just beginning or already has more advanced experience, she has a way of making the material engaging.I've worked with Alaa, and she is one of the most passionate people I know! She is a great teacher and has lots of experience in pharmacology, both as a pharmacist and a researcher.
Alaa Qrareya possesses the knowledge, teaching experience, and scientific expertise necessary to be an excellent instructor in physiology and pharmacology. Her strong training in pharmacy and biological sciences, combined with extensive research experience in pathophysiology and translational biomedical research, enables her to effectively connect physiological mechanisms with pharmacological applications. Through her work as a graduate teaching assistant and educational outreach specialist, Alaa has demonstrated strong communication skills and a clear commitment to student learning, consistently presenting complex material in an accessible and engaging manner. Her academic excellence, research insight, and dedication to mentorship position her to effectively educate and inspire students in physiology and pharmacology.
