About Tijl
My name is Tijl (pronounced "Tell"), and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. I got my Bachelor's degree in Physics and Astronomy from Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and a teaching degree at the HAN, also in the Netherlands.
During my studies, I have taught, tutored, and assisted in a wide range of topics, from teaching a class of year 7 students to HSC maths and physics training camps to teaching Electrodynamics for first year students of the Science teaching degree.

I have spent most of my years since year 12 of high school tutoring and teaching, both in one-on-one settings and in group settings.
I have experience teaching any age and level from year 7 to undergraduate students.
I start by observing how my students approach problem solving and find areas for growth, to improve results quickly.
I always prefer to teach in a way that brings actual understanding, rather than teaching "the trick" that will get you through this test, but will get you stuck again next time.
Typical lessons will be 1-1,5 hours, but times are flexible depending on need and availability.

Tijl helped me study for the HSC last year. I was needing help with Advanced Maths and Maths Extension 1. In the midst of covid lockdowns and changes in teachers I was finding I needed extra help and after a disappointing result with the Trial exams Tijl was able to help me. After weekly tutoring sessions with Tijl in the lead up to the HSC, the results were impressive - with significant improvements in my result in the HSC exams. Tijl tutored in a way that was easy to understand and fun. I went on to be accepted by the University of Newcastle to do a Bachelor of Science.
