About Chan
Hi! I am Bernard and I used to be a student at Brighton College, England. I have always been passionate about two things: science and mentoring. At school, I frequently explained tricky problems to my peers or younger students, and was heavily involved in directing my school's DofE Bronze Programme, teaching pupils how to use a trangia, map-reading skills, etc., so I am skilled at explaining tricky stuff! I am very familiar with exam techniques and all the various tricky questions and misconceptions that usually trip people up, having done countless exams myself. I genuinely believe anyone can achieve rigorous, especially early, preparation, given some guidance, and as long as you raise questions when you don't understand, there really shouldn't be anything stopping you from achieving top grades!

I believe that regardless of ability, hard work is the key to success. I encourage pupils to be exposed to as many different questions as early as possible, and work through topic-specific questions as soon as a topic is covered. While I do explain individual questions as they arise, I prioritise teaching broader methods to tackling challenging questions which can be applied to similar questions. Although I do have limited experience in tutoring, I have explained questions and ideas to many younger students at school and at home, so I know well which ideas/topics students typically struggle with, and have explained them thoroughly countless times. My lessons are for GCSE and A-Level Students taking Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and I have achieved A* at A-level in all of these subjects, so I am intimately acquainted with all the subject content.
