About Melissa
I have a University Degree in Music with a Minor in Psychology as well as a Masters in Social Work. I have 14 years of teaching experience and my students have gone on to compete in local and provincial competitions, have completed RCM and CCM music exams and have performed in many different performance venues. I teach all levels on the piano and beginner to intermediate levels on the violin. I also teach all levels of theory and music history.

I teach an emphasis on proper posture and technique as well as focus on the foundations of music reading. I believe in building off these foundations to improve as a student to become a musician at any level. I expect the student to practice in between lessons and I use beginner method books such as Fabre, Bastien or Alfred. I also teach Royal Conservatory of Music or Canadian Conservatory of Music grades and Suzuki method for the violin.
