About Max
Born in Essen in 1995, he discovered his enthusiasm for music at the age of 9 through an old piano that was in his parents' basement. The curiosity and fascination with the sounds this instrument emitted made Max Kelm continue his research. After 4 years of classical piano lessons from Pavlin Nechev, he continued learning autodidactically. He loved to improvise, invent and create his own pieces.
After graduating from high school, Max did his diploma at the Musicube Academy in Bonn as “Basic Filmmusic Composer” and immediately afterwards his Bachelor at the ArtEZ Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnheim (NL) with the main subject “Composition for Film & Theater”. As a second subject, he studied piano with Jeroen van Vliet.
In addition to his studies, he also gained a lot of experience in various bands and projects and worked with American and German directors on documentaries, series and feature films. In 2019 the film "Label Me", for which Max composed the music, was awarded the Max Öphuls Prize for the best medium-length film.
In addition to his composition assignments, he is currently working as a piano teacher at the music school "Pianoforte" In Cologne-Ehrenfeld.

It is important to me to accompany and support my students on their musical path, which makes every lesson individual and unique. Therefore, I am very happy to respond to requests and design my lessons so that we get closer to your goal bit by bit. Be it: You would like to be able to play Schuhmann's "Träumerei" at some point or you have always been interested in playing the piano without notes. I like to accompany you on your way.
So I offer flexible piano lessons with and without sheet music. I can also offer composition and improvisation lessons.
Everyone who is motivated to learn to play the piano or simply to get to know making music is welcome.

Wirklich empfehlenswert! Super nett und hochqualifiziert....effektiver Unterricht, der Spaß macht...
Es ist nie zu spät, mit Musizieren zu beginnen!Max ist ein wirklich toller, geduldiger Lehrer, der individuell auf seine Schüler/innen eingeht. Er ist immer offen für Ideen, hat selbst viele verschiedene Ansätze und stets eine sehr freundliche Art. Ich mag den Unterricht bei ihm sehr und habe schnell einiges gelernt.
Einen besseren “Superprof” findet man nicht! Ich habe mich im Studium dazu entschieden Klavierstunden zu nehmen und hatte in den Stunden mit Max super viel Spaß und habe viel gelernt. Er findet eine gesunde Mitte zu fordern und gleichzeitig den Spaß beizubehalten. In meinem Fall zum Beispiel hatte er viel Verständnis für flexible Stunden und verpasstes Üben und hat mich gleichzeitig angespornt für die kommenden Wochen.
