About Lucas
My passion for piano began with a fascination for the instrument’s expressive range, which led me to earn a B.Mus in Piano Performance and Music Education. Over 9 years, I have guided students of different ages and skill levels, helping them develop technical mastery, expressive interpretation, and performance confidence. My teaching integrates both foundational skills and advanced musical concepts, allowing learners to progress steadily while enjoying the process.
I follow a student-focused approach, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles, goals, and interests. Lessons combine technical exercises, repertoire practice, improvisation, and interpretive guidance. I prioritize encouragement, structured feedback, and gradual skill development, supporting students in gaining both mastery and expressive freedom. This method helps learners explore creativity while building strong technique.
Outside of teaching, I engage with performance, music theory, and modern pedagogical research, which allows me to introduce new repertoire, interpretive ideas, and practical performance strategies. Teaching piano is deeply fulfilling because I witness learners transform from tentative beginners into confident performers capable of expressing both technical skill and emotional artistry through music.

Piano lessons flourish when learners combine technical skill with expressive artistry. My approach focuses on hand coordination, finger independence, sight-reading, rhythm, phrasing, tonal quality, interpretation, and improvisation. Each lesson is designed to nurture both precision and creativity, helping students gain confidence while exploring repertoire that excites them. I emphasize structured exercises alongside practical application, ensuring learners develop consistent skill while expressing themselves musically.
Lessons are adapted to the student’s level and objectives. Beginners start with posture, finger exercises, simple repertoire, and basic music reading. Intermediate students develop expressive phrasing, advanced technique, sight-reading, and improvisation skills. Advanced learners focus on performance preparation, stylistic interpretation, complex repertoire, and expressive nuance. Every lesson balances discipline, creativity, and encouragement to ensure measurable growth and artistic development.
Studying piano also enhances patience, cognitive skills, and emotional awareness. Students gain confidence in performing and interpreting music while developing a lifelong appreciation for the art. My goal is to guide learners to become technically competent, expressive, and confident pianists who can perform with both precision and emotional depth across a variety of musical styles.
