About Yu Zhou
If you are searching for a teacher, you must already have an interest in studying music for yourself or your child.
As an experienced pianist and violinist, who has been teaching since the age of 15, I always put the needs of the student first.
My pupils have a 100% pass rate for ABRSM exams and all those who have the patience to practise diligently achieve distinction.
Although many pupils take exams, I have found that the most critical thing to focus on is developing the student's ability to listen to and judge their own playing and understand what makes music come alive. When this skill is developed, all other musical goals become easier, whether they involve attaining grades, competing in competitions or preparing for recitals. Both parents and students benefit from this approach, as it creates musicians who can teach themselves, and have the desire to learn.
In lessons, I am extremely patient, but my goal is to inspire students into pursuing the highest standard they can achieve. It is my desire that students will take from their lessons feeling a sense of enjoyment for music and of continual progress.
