About Kathryn
I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner and registered nurse and I know how challenging learning something new can be. I know what it feels like when you’re surrounded by things you’re expected to somehow already understand. I’ve spent years learning, teaching, asking questions, and attempting to figure out how complicated things work.
I genuinely love learning. I think knowledge is power. I’m serious about accuracy, evidence, and doing things correctly, but I’m also a little weird, occasionally ridiculous, and very enthusiastic about finding ways to make learning interesting. I have a bulldog, an unreasonable appreciation for food, and a tendency to go down fascinating rabbit holes.
Most importantly, I want people to feel like they have someone in their corner. You don't have to walk into a lesson already knowing everything. That's what we're here for (we're as in myself, my bulldog, and any snacks fueling said learning).

I start by figuring out where you're starting from: what you already understand, where the gaps are, and what's actually giving you trouble. Then I figure out how your brain likes to receive the information. Most people benefit from visuals, so expect drawings, diagrams, examples, stories, analogies, and occasionally a completely unnecessary but highly memorable rabbit hole.
I pause often and check in: “Do you get it?” “Did I explain that in a way that makes sense?” If the answer is no, we change the approach.
I’m methodical, too. For nursing and NCLEX prep, I teach the underlying rules and patterns first, then reinforce them throughout our work.
My goal isn’t memorization and pain. I want you to actually understand it. Learning can be legit interesting and challenging at the same time, without being miserable.
And if one explanation doesn't click? Great. That's information. We try another one.
