About Maryke
I became a student of life. Through my own journey of being a mature student, I was amazed at the resilience and sheer determination of adult students. The diversity and the willingness to learn was infectious. And I was hooked. I always believed that our main purpose in life is to impart knowledge. To leave others in a better state than when we met them. By teaching, I am able to achieve this belief and in return, my students teach me about life. As to credentials I received my undergrad degree in Psychology and am still on a journey to complete my master's and register as a psychologist. For many years I worked in a corporate setting. I was exposed to training, became a trainer and eventually trained the trainer. I was a mentor in our graduate program and have been a support of many on-the-job training program candidates.

The teaching process involves learning from students, colleagues, parents, and other members of the community. You develop new strategies, ideas, and philosophies throughout your lifetime. In time, my educational philosophy will likely change, and that's okay. The fact that I learned new things and grew is just a sign that I am growing and learning. I prefer an experience-based learning approach in an active environment so that students can share their life experiences, opinions, and expectations. I believe my students need an informal learning setting with a personalized curriculum to make their digital learning more effective. My communication is clear, open and in plain respectful language. I encourage all my students to become self-regulated and promote collaborative learning
