About Josh
I'm a First-Class Honours graduate in Scots Law (LLB), with over 91% in my dissertation. I've been tutoring since 2018 with a consistent record of student success.
I work across a wide range of levels and subjects:
University Level: Law (and similar) tutoring and essay technique: structuring arguments, legal analysis, and academic writing.
Higher / Advanced Higher: English, Modern Studies, Mathematics (I hold an A in Higher English and Higher Modern Studies, and completed Advanced Higher Mathematics).
National 5: English, Maths, Modern Studies, Chemistry and Computing Science (5 A's at National 5).
Primary: foundational literacy and numeracy.
I also completed the Law Society of Scotland's Street Law programme, which provided me with in-depth training in legal education and in making complex legal concepts genuinely understandable.
My focus is on essay writing and analytical skills: the parts of an exam or assignment where marks are most often won and lost. Rather than simply supplying answers, I teach students how to plan, argue and evidence their work independently, so the improvement carries into every subject they study.
Sessions are tailored to the individual, whether that's exam preparation, coursework support, or building confidence from the ground up.

Every lesson starts by finding where marks are being lost: structure, analysis, timing or confidence.
We work through past papers and real essay questions so students learn exactly what examiners reward. I don't give answers; I teach students to plan, argue and evidence their own work. Bring your coursework or past papers and you'll get clear, honest feedback on what to fix and how.
The main thing that I offer is showing HOW to write as per the examiners' guidelines (achieving over 91% in my dissertation thanks to A structure and analysis and B critical writing).
