About Kirstin
I am a fully qualified teacher with experience teaching across all levels of Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence. I have taught from Primary 1 (kindergarten) up to Primary 7 (5th Grade) in a classroom based environment. I have also provided 1-1 tutoring for various students, ranging from 5 years old to 14 years old.
I have many years experience of working with Children, initially working in an Early Years environment (Nursery) after leaving school.
I am passionate about including my learner's voice in their learning journey and strive to provide an individual approach when considering their needs. I work using a multisensory approach to ensure there is variety in my pedagogy and co-construct small steps to work towards long term goals with my pupils and their adults. I am a fully qualified Primary Teacher who has over 3 years classroom based experience working within the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and as a private tutor.
I am passionate about ensuring each of my lessons are uniquely tailored to my learner's needs, taking the time to get to know their personal learning style and adapting my lessons to suit this. I work with my learners to create long term goals by co-constructing short term next steps to get there. I focus on building positive relationships with the learners through ensuring I include their interests and hobbies within my practice to ensure engaging and relevant lessons.
Typically,each lesson would last for an hour at a time with focussed work and brain breaks to ensure effective learning opportunities are provided. This can however be tailored to your child's needs and built up as appropriate.
