About Anna
Anna Dean is an accomplished archaeologist and researcher with a robust Ancient Near Eastern studies background. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies specializing in Egyptian Archaeology from the University of Chicago. Anna also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology and a minor in Museum Studies from Texas A&M University.
Anna's work experience includes her current role as a Collections Technician at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. In this position, she manages research and cares for the collections of the Hall of the Americas and the Hall of Ancient Egypt. Anna is responsible for crafting educative summaries of major historical events, considering their historical context and sociopolitical nuances.
Before her current position, Anna worked as a substitute instructor at The Post Oak School in Houston, where she maintained classroom order, facilitated learning goals, and provided individualized assistance to students. She has also run summer archaeology camps and after-school programs to help educate and engage children in her field.
Anna's expertise extends to her involvement in various projects. She was an archivist for the Demotic Dictionary Project at the University of Chicago, organizing and digitizing handwritten index cards. Additionally, Anna analyzed and cataloged artifacts at the Center for the Study of First Americans and participated in excavations at multiple Paleo-Indian sites during her time at Texas A&M University.
In terms of language proficiency, Anna is well-versed in Classical Latin, Attic and Ionic Greek, Academic French, and Middle Egyptian.
