About Julio
I graduated from Cal State LA in 2023 with a Master's degree in music, specializing in Afro-Latin music. In 2019, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Northern Arizona University. At NAU, I studied under Tom Sheeley, a world-renowned classical guitarist who won the first international Manuel Ponce guitar competition in Mexico City, 1982. My performance experience includes weddings, private engagements, graduation ceremonies, and student cabarets, and I have given many solo recitals, including at the Kitt School of Music and twice at the Festival of Lights in Riverside, CA. I have been teaching for 5 years. My lessons are both virtual and in-person.

I am a classical guitarist taught through the Manuel Lopez Ramos school of guitar. With over 20 years of experience, I have performed at weddings, private engagements, and corporate events and given many student and solo recitals. My students focus on technique and repertoire as we work through the Sagreras, Carulli, and Sor lesson books. Additionally, we work through the Coordination Exercises developed by Ramos.
In addition to typical guitar instruction, I also implement music theory and ear training into my lessons. This is meant to help bridge the gap between what students are playing, what they are hearing, and helps them to understand what they are hearing.
As a teacher, I am very patient, flexible, and understanding. I believe music education should be accessible, fun, and enriching.
