After struggling to find a local Erhu instructor, I was so glad to have found Jeff online. I have been taking lessons with him for about 6 months now.

Jeff is an expert on Erhu and its repertoire and it shows in his lessons. Learning Erhu, like any instrument, is challenging but Jeff's teaching style is a boon -- often breaking things down into metaphores and simpler motions or exercises to practice the fundamentals. After these exercises, there is always noticable improvement once applied to the instrument. On top of that he has a great attention to detail towards both the musicality of the piece and the fundamentals of technique from bowing, to position shifts, vibrato, ornamentation and more.

I've been taking lessons from Jeff for about 6 months, and he is a great teacher. He's very enthusiastic about both teaching and music, and has a lot of techniques to improve learning in an online setting, such as encouraging personal exploration of the instrument. He's also been flexible about planning the lesson schedule with me.
