• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I started learning piano when I was 9, and moved on to playing the guitar later. I then started to explore more genres like jazz, progressive rock etc focussing more on music theory associated with those genres. Thus making guitar my main instrument ever since.
  
  Eventually I got into recording and producing music experimenting with tape machines and digital audio workstations. I have been a professional musician and artist since 2010 till date.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  Learning new ideas is my motivation and teaching has always allowed me to do that. Students challenge me with difficult questions and I am always updating myself to be able to answer them.

• How does your work help society?

  Music as an artform opens up an avenue for people to express themselves. This expression has had a positive impact on the mental health of people. Collectively, less stressed people tend to be more empathetic towards the society they live in. I have been fortunate enough to have introduced music to many people through my lessons.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  I have had many guitar players I have looked upto, if I have to pick one, that would be Tommy Emmanuel. I appreciate the way he approaches the guitar as a writing tool and then performs his compositions solo yet making the entire crowd go wild. I have personally learnt a lot from his music.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  I am an avid cyclist. I like to go on long rides in the morning.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  Never stop learning.
