About Helgaardt
I am a dedicated Financial Accounting student at UNISA with a background rooted in the rigorous Kumon mathematics system. Navigating high-level university finance has taught me that success in any mathematical subject isn't about innate "genius"—it is about discipline, structured problem-solving, and time management.
I am interested in teaching because I have seen too many students develop "math anxiety" simply because they were forced to memorize formulas they didn't understand. My goal is to change that narrative. I draw from my experience with the systematic, repetition-based mastery of Kumon to help students build a rock-solid foundation. I don't just want my students to pass their next test; I want them to develop the logical confidence required to tackle any mathematical challenge, whether they are in Primary School or heading into their Matric finals. I am passionate about taking the exact disciplines I use to master complex university modules and breaking them down into actionable, easy-to-understand strategies for my students.

Mathematics is often taught as a series of abstract rules and "secret formulas" to be memorized, but memory is the first thing to fail under the pressure of a ticking exam clock. I teach Structural Logic. Drawing from my extensive background in the Kumon system and my current advanced university studies, I show students that math is a mechanical language that follows a consistent machine-like structure.
Whether your child is in Grade 5 building a numerical foundation or in Grade 12 preparing for Finals, my lessons focus on the "Mechanical Why" behind the math. Once a student understands the structure of an equation, they don't need to panic if they forget a specific formula—they can simply derive the logic. We move away from "blind substitution" and toward absolute conceptual clarity, ensuring the student is prepared for any "curveball" an examiner might throw.
By using an interactive digital whiteboard, I make abstract concepts visible and easy to grasp. Every session is recorded and shared, giving students a 24/7 resource to review our logic-mapping whenever they get stuck on homework or exam prep. I don't just help with homework; I rebuild the student's mathematical framework from the ground up.

Methodology: Mathematics is not about memorization; it is about pattern recognition and logic. I break down complex algebraic, geometric, and foundational concepts into their core mechanics. My focus is on aggressive exam technique, structured problem-solving, and eliminating the panic associated with math tests.
Format: Exclusively Online (Screen-sharing, digital whiteboards, and digital note retention).
Trial: First 45-minute assessment and onboarding session is completely FREE.
High School (Grades 8 - 12)
- Single Hour: R 200
- 10-Hour Package: R 1,500 (R 150/hr)

Operational Terms (Please Read):
Upfront Payment: All packages and single sessions are payable strictly upfront via EFT to secure your time slot in my schedule. I do not operate on an ad-hoc or arrears basis.
Time Tracking: Sessions are tracked exactly to the minute. Any extra time requested beyond the scheduled block will be accurately deducted from your remaining package balance.
Scheduling: Once a package is secured, we will map out a fixed weekly schedule to ensure consistent academic progression.
