About Charles
I am a music educator with a Master's in composition and jazz performance who has taught at several New England universities and private schools for over 40 years. I am still active in my local music community and many of my students have gone on to professional careers in music.

I give instruction in beginning and intermediate saxophone, clarinet, flute and jazz piano and can draw on a traditional classical approach or work from a less formal jazz pedagogy for students of all ages. I help students develop an effective practice routine, proper tone production, and technical facility in addition to effective sight reading, rhythmic accuracy and stylistic interpretation skills.

Perfect! Charles is patient, kind and very knowledgeable. Always has constructive suggestions when I am in need of how to master a technique that I am struggling with. Whatever instrument he's playing, his heart for the music radiates from his countenance which makes studying music ( in this case the clarinet) with him fun and exciting. I'm thankful to have found him to teach me how to play the clarinet. I look forward to every lesson.
Excellent! Charles was very helpful but my internet connection was bad and we could not conduct the lesson as we expected. Charles has rescheduled my lesson so that I can get a better internet connection.

Charlie Jennison was my saxophone instructor at Phillips Exeter from 2007-2009. He guided me as a complete novice to the instrument in the fundamentals, and helped me develop comfort with playing. While I have not played in many years (and regret not continuing!), I am very grateful for his instruction and the life lessons learned through playing the alto sax. I highly recommend him as a trustworthy instructor. Thanks Mr. Jennison!
