About Jou
I am a singing tutor with over 13 years of experience, specialising in teaching college students. My lessons focus on developing strong vocal technique while encouraging creativity and personal expression. I help students improve breath control, pitch, vocal tone, and performance confidence, guiding them to sing authentically.
I use interactive and innovative methods such as vocal improvisation, recording exercises, and real-song interpretation. Lessons are personalised to the student’s goals, pace, and style, ensuring steady progress and enjoyable learning.
Performance skills are a key part of my teaching. I guide students in stage presence, expressive delivery, and confidence for recitals, auditions, and competitions. Music theory and ear training are also included to provide a solid musical foundation.
I encourage students to explore different genres and develop their unique voice. My philosophy emphasises patience, creativity, and accountability, making every lesson inspiring, motivating, and effective.

My singing teaching methodology focuses on clarity, creativity, and responsible learning. Communication is the foundation of my lessons. I explain posture, breathing techniques, voice placement, and pitch control in easy language so students can apply them confidently.
Creativity is encouraged in every session. I use expressive singing, creative vocal drills, and emotional connection with songs to keep lessons engaging. Students explore different genres and learn how to express feelings through their voice.
Cultural sensitivity is an important value in my classes. I respect each student’s musical background and encourage songs from different cultures and languages. This approach helps students feel valued and motivated.
Accountability is ensured through structured lesson plans, clear practice goals, and honest feedback. I monitor progress regularly and guide students towards steady improvement. In addition to singing, I teach music reading, rhythm training, ear training, performance skills, and vocal health.
