A professor with a PhD in epidemiology and biostatistics, and long experience in research and scientific writing

had the privilege of being mentored by Dr. Rana Jaber during my research journey. Her expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methodology was invaluable in helping me develop my project from concept to completion. She guided me through every stage of the research process, including study design, literature review, data analysis, interpretation of findings, and scientific writing.

I strongly recommend Dr. Rana as a biostatistics tutor. I had the opportunity to learn from her as a student in my Master of Public Health program and later work with her as a graduate assistant for two years. Through these experiences, I saw her ability to make statistics understandable, approachable, and less intimidating for students.

When I took her biostatistics course, I was returning to quantitative coursework after more than 20 years without a math or statistics class. Rather than simply providing the answer, Dr. Rana asked questions about my thought process, helped identify where my reasoning needed adjustment, and guided me toward understanding the solution. This helped me develop confidence in my own ability to work through statistical problems.

Dr. Rana meets students where they are while helping them grow. She combines strong statistical knowledge with patience, clarity, and a teaching style that encourages students to think independently.

I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Rana Jaber in multiple capacities at Northern Illinois University.
