About Piers
Piers is a qualified marine biologist with a first class degree from the University of Plymouth (UK). He has established a number of research, monitoring and marine conservation programs in Thailand, working closely with the Thai Department of Marine & Coastal Resources, as well as international post-doctorate researchers, schools and universities.
Piers is a published author, and his textbook 'An Introduction to Corals and The Reefs They Form' is available in paperback from Amazon. He has a keen interest in educating our next generation, and has designed a program of workshops, lectures, tutorials and interactive sessions which are adapted to suit students between Reception and Year 13.
As an award winning, and featured underwater photographer, Piers is able to bring personal experiences and real-life examples into his teaching, offering a unique insight into the scientific field.

Throughout my career, I have actively engaged in both research and education, developing a passion for sharing my scientific knowledge with students. As the founder of a marine research, education and conservation organisation, I have spearheaded various projects and educational programs, successfully delivering workshops to school students across year groups from Reception to Y13, as well as 1-1 tutoring internationally.
During the pandemic, I transitioned to online teaching, delivering lessons and presentations that were not only academically enriching but also highly engaging for students.
I have published a scientific textbook which is used in schools and 1-1 tutorials. This has often served as a valuable supplement to the topics I teach, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and insightful learning experience.
My academic background, including a first-class bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, as well as consistent A*/A grades in both A levels and iGCSEs, attests to my dedication to academic excellence.
My lessons maintain an engaging, fun, and academically fulfilled environment, helping students completing GCSE and A Level sciences, as well as students in earlier year groups.
