About Bimba
I am a qualified, experienced, and reliable secondary school maths teacher. I have a patient and caring approach, and I genuinely enjoy teaching. My goal is to help students make strong progress, build confidence, and achieve excellent results. I have over 25 years of experience tutoring and lecturing in mathematics up to undergraduate level, consistently achieving excellent results. In addition to one-to-one and group tutoring, I also have experience teaching maths in both mainstream and SEN (Special Educational Needs) schools.

I carefully plan my lessons and set homework with the aim of developing each student’s individual abilities. I tailor my approach to suit different learning styles and often focus on building strong problem-solving skills, particularly in preparation for the new GCSE exams, which place greater emphasis on this area. I use a combination of worksheets and past papers to give students ample practice and help improve their exam techniques. Students are assessed regularly, and I provide feedback to parents after each lesson to keep them informed of progress. Currently, I offer tuition both online and in person, from Year 7 through to A level. My online lessons are delivered using an easy-to-use interactive whiteboard that allows for real-time communication, sketching, and resource sharing across devices—without the need to download any software. The whiteboard content is saved after each session, enabling students to review the material and complete their homework at their own pace. Over the past 20 years, I have helped students of varying ability levels reach their full potential, often exceeding age-related expectations. I have also supported many SEN pupils who find maths challenging, helping them to achieve their learning goals.

Bimba has been teaching maths to my 15-year-old daughter for nearly 4 years now. We are very pleased as during that period she has improved enormously and gone from a set 2 student to a set 1 high achiever. Bimba has a very patient and caring approach to teaching and an aptitude for explaining complex topics clearly. By setting homework after every lesson she makes sure my daughter understands the concepts very well. She keeps us informed regarding my daughter’s progress regularly. She is a driven, organised teacher who has developed an inspiring relationship with my daughter. Bimba is a very dedicated teacher and will happily spend extra time to assist her in understanding any particularly difficult subject matters. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject has helped her to feel more confident and interested in maths.
